hi! Im starting a home recording studio.. is this enough to start with and record?
I have audio editing software for vocals and music.
I have a mic and headphones
a midi controller and reason 4.0
and an acer laptop 2gb
will i need anything else, like an interface or soundcard?
or am i fine for right now???
You'll want to get a Audio Interface.
You don't have to have one, but your quality will be really low if you try and run a mic through your sound card of your laptop.
An Audio Interface will allow you to plug your mic into the device, convert it to a digital signal, and transfer it to your laptop via USB. This will give you a whole lot better quality. Also interfaces come with real good recording software such as Cubase, Pro Tools or Tracktion that are used in professional studios. These softwares will use a tool called "Re-Wire" that integrates directly with Reason 4.0.
Good work on getting Reason though, that program is incredible.
I'd suggest this Audio Interface for the price.

Any other questions feel free to email.
Oh also, no need for a soundcard. The Audio Interface bypasses the soundcard because they are not meant for live frequencies. Only processed sound.
