can anyone out there tell me how to transfer my audio from a tape recoder to ...?
i want to transfer my audio music from a tape recorder to digital format so i can write to my dvd or cd
Tape recorder to MP3.. You need to run the audio signal from the tape player to your computer then record it with an audio editing program. If your tape player is not part of a stereo system, meaning it is a stand-alone tape player, look for an audio out jack on back. Probably there will be 2, left and right. If so, then you need a cable that has 2 RCA male jacks on one end and a 1/8 inch stereo jack on the other. If there are no audio jacks present, but you have a headphone jack, then the cable you need must have 1/8 inch male at both ends, or if your headphine jack is teh 1/4 inch kind, you can get an adapter to downsize it to 1/8 inch. If your tape player is part of a stereo system then take the system;s audio out (RCA or headphone).. either method, then plug the 1/8 inch into you aduio-in jack of your soundcard on back of your PC. Next, you need an audio editing program. I use Goldwave (about $50) but Cooledit is also a good choice. In the audio editning program, select line-in as your source, and record the audio as it is played. You can then use one of those programs to cut up the audio file into individual taacks and save them as MP3. Those 2 programs I mentioned also allow you to edit out stuff like hiss or pop/clicks from LPs.
