Can anyone answer this question for me?
I am an audio student doing an assignment for my class. I need to answer this question:
What skills will be needed for people entering recording equipment manufacturing: the sales and service reps.?

You would be selling or renting, and making a commission on both. If they decide to buy, then you get a tidy commission. You would just have to know a variety of setups for the small operation and the larger operation. You would have to know what your company would provide in service. My niece sells and rents large building equipment, like those diggers you see in building. She goes to the sites. She takes the builders out. She dresses for her role, and made a lot of money until the building industry went bust, six figures. So, you need to be familiar with the role of each part of the equipment, and not miss a single piece that they will need. The more you can get them to rent or buy, the more, you will make. Also, how will you handle cold calls. How will answer questions? You have to know your equipment back and forth, all the specs. Of course the best way to learn, is to check out a studio, it could be a home studio, as there is a big market there with so many making music in their home environment, or a larger studio. Sounds like a great field.
