What recording/notation software would be best?
I've written music for years, and recorded it at times. My set has changed here and there through the years. I currently have a digital piano with midi in and out and line in and out. I have a laptop that could easily handle any recording software. I figured instead of making things fancy and having a small mix board and mics and so forth that I could probably just use a straight midi controller to usb and use the computer as the mixer and recorder. I would prefer to use something fairly straight forward with a few bells and whistles but not horribly advanced. Also was wondering what people recommend for best software that will record the music and turn it into sheet music, I believe this is called notation software but I forget, thanks for your help!
Well, for notation I would recommend Finale. It really is excellent. Costs a bit, though.
