What is the best way to dispose of old cassette and video tapes?
I'm cleaning out the huge wall unit entertainment center in preparation for a new plasma console. I'm ready to let go of boxes and boxes of pre-recorded audio cassette tapes, albums, and VHS videotapes. What's the best/easiest way to do so? Does anybody even bother to buy them any more? Craigslist? Used record store? Donate? Any websites specific to used media sales? Many have never even been played or played only once and are in original packaging. I hate for them to go to complete waste, even though I know they are outdated and not good for much these days!
Consider donating them to homes for battered women or single parents, to a resale shop, etc. If you pick a suitable non-profit organization, you can get a receipt for use to offset taxes (I'm speaking of the US here; check if you're elsewhere).
How to find such an organization? Contact a local church or google. Hmmm . . . the church of Google. Oh Lord, I'm pretty sure I just committed a sin of some kind with that last bit
